In 2019 RPE "TIK" announces the development of the first wireless vibration sensor with digital output (LoRaWAN standard) - TIK-WSV.

The sensor is designed to measure the RMS value of vibration velocity and vibration acceleration along two axes and transmit the signal to the base station wirelessly.

The start of sales of the wireless sensor is planned for the III quarter of 2020, the estimated price of the sensor is 50.000 RUB. Prior to the end of the II quarter of 2020, preliminary applications are accepted, a discount on the purchase of a sensor by prior order is 30%.

During 2019, as part of collective trips with the participation of the Perm Krai Export Support Center, RPE "TIK" took part in several foreign exhibitions that took place in Hannover (Germany) and Baku (Azerbaijan).

"Hannover Messe", or Hannover Fair - one of the largest exhibitions of high technology, innovation and industrial automation in the world. From year to year, unique opportunities are provided for establishing international contacts, establishing cooperation, attracting investments and expanding sales markets.

In its turn, "Caspian Oil & Gas" exhibition has been a great platform for a meeting of leading oil, gas and energy professionals in the Caspian region for a quarter of a century, where numerous memoranda, agreements and contracts are signed.

As part of these events, RPE "TIK" got the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest achievements of industry science and technology, as well as present their products and find new business partners.

In 2019, TIK Modscan software was included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases, which means its full Russian origin (development) and allows use not only by individuals and companies, but also by government agencies.

Recall that TIK Modscan software is designed to develop, configure, maintain and operate equipment that supports the Modbus protocol. The program has a large number of functions (some of which are available only in the registered version, which can be purchased on the site by leaving a request), and also has a convenient and intuitive graphical interface.

At the beginning of 2019, the English version of the site of RPE "TIK" was launched. It provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the products of the enterprise not only to Russian customers, but also to foreign ones, as In recent years, the number of website visitors from abroad has grown significantly.


In 2018, RPE "TIK" began to design, manufacture and introduce low-voltage complete devices for automatic process control systems, telemechanics and energy distribution.
As part of this specialization, the company works in the following areas:

  • cabinets of control systems and telemechanics;;
  • power distribution cabinets.
One of the key features of the above products is - triple control in production, the use of reliable and certified conductive products, convenient disconnection and operation, high build quality.

Also, in order to develop these areas, RPE "TIK" has become an official partner of the company "Rittal", which is the largest supplier of cabinet equipment and distribution cabinets.

2018 was marked by an increased number of exhibition and visiting events in Perm, Moscow, Ufa, Almetyevsk and even in Kazakhstan.

Both previously released products and new products were shown - emergency protection system of the pumping-unit TIK-ZSK, DVA484 digital multifunctional vibration sensor, range of automation cabinets and dashboards.

I would especially like to note the appearance in 2018 of the latest self-developed software module for the TIK-RVM advanced vibration monitoring system - an artificial intelligence module built on the principles of a "neural network". Despite the fact that the module is still being tested and trained to recognize various equipment defects, now you can already see its huge advantages over the traditional method of statistical analysis.

At the beginning of 2018, two modifications of the DS-1 sensor were made - adding a version with a threaded part M8x1 to the nomenclature, as well as testing DS-1 as part of the axial shift channel IKV-1-4-1 in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196 °С.

Modification of the sensor for low temperatures is due to the fact that customers' submersible pumps can operate in different environments and at different temperatures. So, submersible pumps are used to pump liquid methane (-160 ° С), and liquid nitrogen (-196 ° С) is used to check the quality of production of these pumps.


At the end of 2017, RPE "TIK" received a new certificate of approval of the instrumentation for DVA vibration converters.
According to the new document, the period of verification interval has been extended up to 2 years, which will reduce the cost of periodic verification for the customers.
It should be also noted that this leads to replacement of the names of all vibration velocity and vibration acceleration sensors in accordance with the new marking (conversion table of old and new names will be published in the news in early 2018).

In 2017, more than 15 people from various domestic enterprises including PJSC Metafrax, LLC SIBINTEK, PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, and others upgraded their skills in the training center of the company.
The trainees enhanced their theoretical knowledge of the basics of vibration diagnostics by the practical skills, having perfected them on the explosion-proof TIK-VV vibration stand, vibration meter TIK-PION, as well as on the rotary machine model.
Training stand “Rotor machine model” was specially designed for modeling of various kinds faults on dynamic equipment and mastering the procedure for their diagnosis and elimination.

In 2017, RPE "TIK" updated a range of products, namely, TIK-PLC 1xx logical controllers of the second generation. The key change was the appearance of a new space-saving case, which makes it easier to install it on a DIN rail. Other improvements that were introduced include increased service life of the terminal blocks, protection against incorrect connection, and improved electromagnetic compatibility.
In addition to the above mentioned controllers, a completely new and all-purpose TIK-PLC 481 was developed. Its main advantage consists in the ability to work both with sensors having the analog output (4-20 mA, "voltage") and with the digital RS-485. Another one indisputable advantage of the new controller is the ability to configure the parameters without the use of PC thanks to availability of OLED display and five-position joystick.
The nomenclature of the sensors produced has been also expanded - the launch of DVA484 three-axis digital multifunctional vibration inverter was announced. The distinctive feature of this device is the possibility to measure vibration acceleration, vibration velocity, vibration displacement, tilt angle on three coordinates, as well as temperature by using only one sensor. Vibration inverter is equipped with RS-485 digital output and features IP68 protection class. The manufacture of DVA484 is planned to be started in 2018.

In February-March 2017, the plant was visited by two groups of the engineers from Iraqi companies. The guests got acquainted with work of the company's departments and took training courses under the main programs - "Sensors", "Explosion-proof vibration stand TIK-VV", "Vibration diagnostics and vibration monitoring systems".
Following the visit, the foreign partners expressed their interest in the company's products - especially in the stand of bearing incoming control SVK-A, rotor machine model, advanced vibration monitoring system TIK-RVM, as well as in TIK-VV vibration testing table .


At the end of 2016, LLC RPE "TIK" crossed a significant milestone - 25 years since its foundation. The company's history is closely connected with Perm "Research Institute of Control Machines and Systems" (RICMS), where the backbone and founders of the future company began their work in the field of automation and founded LLC RPE "TIK" in December 1991, choosing the designing and production of vibration control equipment as the main area for development. Since then, our company has been successfully solving complex and non-standard problems in the field of vibration diagnostics, vibration monitoring and creating the systems of emergency protection of the industrial equipment for already a quarter of a century. Nowadays RPE "TIK" is a rapidly developing company which provides its customers with high-quality, state-of-the-art equipment and various services. Our further plans include active development of the partner relations with the countries of the near abroad and Europe.

2016 was marked by several particularly significant projects for the company, namely, by development of TIK-RVM vibration diagnostic information and measurement systems by order of JSC "Kuibyshev Refinery" and LLC "LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka". These systems are intended for vibration control of the bearing assemblies of reducers, electric motors, pumps, air-cooling devices (in total, more than 300(!) IKV-1-1-2 channels), as well as for vabration displacement control of piston compressor rods with the use of IKV-1-4-1-4-1 channels (more than 40 channels) and IKV-1-4-1.1 channels (more than 10 channels), for calculation of the number of revolutions, phase angle, and the piston compressor sector analysis. In addition to a large number of vibration and vibration displacement channels, the system is also equipped with the temperature channels that measure the temperature of the pump unit bearing supports and gas temperature in the suction and forcing compressor cylinder piston chambers.

In mid-2016, within the scope of the program aimed at increase in production volumes and expansion of the company's production facilities, two brand-new machines were purchased - a CNC turret lathe and a vertical milling machine. Introduction of the new equipment allowed to significantly reduce the production term.

Last year RPE "TIK" and the Italian company Nidec ASI S.p.A. (Nidec Group) actively cooperated in the supply of vibration sensors for outfitting their products.
The partner relations with Nidec ASI S.p.A. ensure acknowledgement of the high quality of products offered by LLC RPE "TIK" not only in the Russian, but also in the foreign oil and gas market.


At the end of 2015, "TIK" designed and commissioned the Unified Automatic Complex Control System (UACCS) for production of anti-icing materials at LLC "UZPM" (Ural Plant of Anti-icing Materials).
This system controls the process equipment complex which includes: conveyors, elevators, bunkers, dosing units, packers, etc. Convenience in service and repair is provided by division of the control cases into separate production assemblies. Siemens equipment is used as the main system controllers. In addition to automatic mode, the system also provides a manual control mode of production cycle control.
Scalable and multi-level system ensures collection and processing of data from the primary converters, controllers, etc.; provides centralized data storage on the operator's workstation, remote control of equipment through a clear and handy graphical interface, automatic regulation of the critical production parameters, and significantly reduces the risk of emergencies at the facility. Application of the standard RS-485/Ethernet interfaces allows to extend the system by installing additional modules/controllers.

In 2015, RPE "TIK" organized a new area of construction and installation works (CIW). To coordinate this area, a production and technical department (PTD) was established. Creation of this department enabled the company to provide the customer with a full range of works - from drawing up of facility documentation to its commissioning on a "turnkey" basis.

In 2015, a training center of RPE "TIK" continued to develop. For the first time, the methodology was developed and advanced training courses were held on the topics "Operating and maintenance rules for TIK-VV vibration stand" and "Metrological support and maintenance of vibration monitoring devices and systems". More than 50 people took a course of advanced training in these areas.

In July 2015, the students of Tomsk National Research Polytechnic University (TNRPU) defended their practice reports. All works of the students were based on the company's objectives and their results were added to production processes. In addition to TNRPU, the company also actively cooperates with Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (USPTU) and the leading Perm universities.

In addition to the extended vibration monitoring system for centrifugal units, the company has developed a version of TIK-RVM system which successfully and efficiently controls the vibration parameters of piston compressors and other parameters; analyzes the piston unit condition, operation of valves, crossheads, and other assemblies.

The system is being actively improved, in particular, the visual part of the software was updated taking into account wishes of the service personnel; the concept was completely revised and the system of vibration diagnostics and diagnostic rules were written from scratch. Algorithms for early detection of various defects are being developed, and forecasting tools are being improved.

This year, RPE "TIK" has significantly expanded the range of eddy current sensors. The company has mastered production of the new version of the sensors for screw, piston and centrifugal compressors. Thanks to development of the import substitution program, these products are in high demand in the Russian market.

RPE "TIK" has put into the operation the automated laser processing unit for items made of various metals (welding, cutting), with automatic and manual modes.
The enterprise has also introduced the automatic lathe with CNC for high-precision processing (engraving, milling) of parts having various standard sizes.
Cutting-edge automated equipment makes it possible to speed up the production process and minimize the impact of human factor.


A new device with "TIK" mark - a portable explosion-proof vibration stand TIK-VV - was introduced on the market.

TIK-VV is a stand-alone portable vibration stand that meets all the requirements of explosion safety and surpasses the analogues by many characteristics and ergonomics.

Vibration stand is intended for adjustment, calibration, and verification of vibration measuring equipment in laboratory and industrial conditions in the operating frequency range of 5...5000 (2...10 000) Hz.

TIK-VV was officially presented at the Moscow International Forum "Accurate measurements - the basis of quality and safety", held on the occasion of the International Metrology Day. The visitors' interest in the vibration stand was reflected in delivery order for the upcoming years.

RPE "TIK" training centre has become fully independent. In March 2014, a License for educational activities in the field of additional professional programs was obtained. By that time, the studies were held in the Company's own specialized office equipped with the training stands and models of diagnostics equipment.


In 2013, the company actively improved its professional development courses. A new structural department, the Training Centre, was established as part of the RPE "TIK".

In November 2013, another one training program for specialists of oil refining and chemical industries was opened - "Vibration control sensors, devices and systems. Vibration diagnostics of Main Line pumps and Mobile Pump Units".

The first participant of this course was a group of employees of JSC "Sibnefteprovod". The group was formed by representatives of all departments of ML management.

By that time, more than 100 specialists had upgraded their qualifications at RPE "TIK" Training Center.

RPE "TIK" brought the third generation of TIK-PION vibration meters to the market.

he new generation of devices includes software with the new features:

  • display of spectrum and harmonic trends in the form of histograms allowing to trace the dynamics of the defect formation;
  • visual representation of sampling and diagnostic results by various parameters;
  • smart function of automatic sampling analysis in accordance with the diagnostic rules.

TIK-PION vibration meter has an ergonomic design that allows to control the device with one hand, and is also equipped with a transformer bag to operate, carry, and store the vibration meter and its accessories.


The company opened its own mini-print shop for printing the design documentation and advertising materials accompanying the supplied products.

The entire range of printing and post-printing works is carried out in the mini-print shop.


RPE "TIK" together with "Neftepererabotchik" training center began to conduct advanced training courses under the program "Fundamentals of reliable and accident-free operation of dynamic equipment of enterprises".

The first courses were held in October 2011 for specialists from LCC "Perm-Globalstroyservis", CJSC "Sibur-Khimprom" and LLC "Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez".

The training program included theoretical and practical training. The theoretical part of the training was held in "Neftepererabotchik" training center, while the practical one - in the laboratories of vibration diagnostics and non-destructive testing of RPE "TIK" with the use of experimental training stand of the Russian and foreign production.

Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory (NDTL) was opened as part of development department at RPE "TIK". The laboratory has received the accreditation certificate and carries out the control of equipment, structures, and materials by non-destructive methods at facilities of mining, oil and gas industry, as well as at facilities of explosion and fire hazardous and chemically dangerous enterprises. The diagnostics experts of NDTL use vibration diagnostic, visual and measuring techniques. The work is carried out in four main areas:

  • Vibration diagnostics and vibration adjustment of equipment;
  • Laser alignment of mechanisms;
  • Balancing of equipment;
  • Assessment of rolling bearings' condition.

The work of the diagnostics experts of NDTL of RPE "TIK" has won the trust of many enterprises of the Perm region including subdivisions of JSC "Transneft", LLC "Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez", CJSC "Sibur-Khimprom", JSC "Permsky Motorny Zavod", JSC "Kamteks-Khimprom", LLC "Kamsky kabel", JSC "Uralkalyi", LLC "Novogor-Prikamye", etc.


The quality management system of RPE "TIK" was certified for compliance with ISO 9001:2008. Certification was carried out by auditors of the world's leading independent certification body Bureau Veritas Certification.

RPE "TIK" became an authorized distributor of Czech bearings in Russia manufactured by ZKL BEARINGS CZ LTD.

RPE "TIK" has finished the development and testing of extended vibration monitoring system in Perm Regional Oil Pipeline Management at LODS "Perm". TIK-RVM system protects and monitors the industrial equipment in real time and can perform also vibration diagnostics function - upon operator's request - at specified intervals and whenever hte incidents occur. This allows the operator to be provided with complete information of high quality on condition of the equipment and individual assemblies, while reducing the cost of vibration diagnostics. TIK-RVM fully meets the stated requirements and is recommended for use by acceptance commission of "JSC Transneft".

RPE "TIK" has implemented two automation projects for the brewery company SUN InBev. The system of steepwater pH level regulation water was developed and implemented and the system of explosion safety of vertical conveyors was reconstructed.

The book "Rolling Bearings" written by the head of the vibrator adjustment and vibration diagnostics department of RPE "TIK" has been published. The book is an information and methodical addition to the current guiding and normative and technical documentation for work with the rolling bearings.


On the basis of RPE "TIK", the official representative office of the German company "BINDER GmbH" - the world's manufacturer of flowmeters and gas analyzers - has been established.

A new alarm device TIK-VT has been developed for control of technical parameters of the process equipment operating in explosive environment.

A vibration monitoring system for stand testing of submersible pumps in the well has been put into operation at "Schlumberger" company.

The company has implemented the electronic document management system and DIRECTUM interaction management system. Already at the initial stages, introduction of the system allowed to significantly improve the enterprise's business processes, reduce the time for searching and approval of documents, as well as to automate the interaction processes.


Construction and finishing works of the third floor of the RPE "TIK" building were completed. The Research & Development Department, Planning & Production and Design Departments, Marketing and Advertising Department, as well as some managers of the enterprise have moved there. In addition, there is a conference and presentation room and sports hall on the third floor.

SVK-A bearing vibration stand received a silver quality mark in the category "Production of industrial and technical purpose" at the contest "100 best goods of Russia".

RPE "TIK" began to cooperate with Perm Research Technological Institute (PRTI), having developed a control system for the mast facade lift PMF-2000. The control system with frequency converter provides a smooth start and stop of the lift at low starting current, which significantly reduces the wear and tear of the lift mechanisms, increases their service life, stabilizes the electrical equipment operation, and reduces energy consumption of the lift. Standard option of the control system is equipped with a fault diagnostics system, hour meter, and scheduled maintenance alarm device. In addition, the safety level has been improved through the use of a work platform overload monitoring system, closed door monitoring system, and anemometer connection feature. The lift control system can perform function of a "black box" with the help of flash memory, which stores the information on the latest commands.

Continuing its cooperation with PRTI, RPE "TIK" has developed the roof bolting installation equipment control system (RFIECS) in the mines. This equipment was manufactured by order of "Uralkalyi" company and currently undergoes certification.

TIK-BC alarm device has been developed to replace the Argus-SPS alarm devices which is also designed to detect the scraper in the pipeline, but has been significantly improved in terms of functionality and design. The operation of this alarm device is based on recording of vibration and acoustic signals emitted by pipeline pigs at the moment of passing the control point. The operation does not require the installation of a transmitter on the scraper.


Pilot production has grown into Devices and systems plant. The plant produces all key products of the company and carries out a full range of turning, milling, locksmithing, engraving and painting works.

The plant produces both individual and serial orders for manufacture of parts, assemblies, and cases of instrumentation products.


All departments of the company moved into company's own building.

The Quality management sector was created to optimize business processes of the enterprise and prepare for certification according to the international standards.


Cooperation with Perm's Mining and machine building plant (MMBP) began. One of the most unconventional developments of the company was the control system of mine lift PShL-1000 manufactured by MMBP. The lift is designed for lowering and lifting people on the raise upsets of the mines and can be used as an emergency exit. PShL-1000 is safer than its analogues and is equipped with a greater number of lock devices and centrifugal action safety catch. The lifts feature high speed and smooth running.

The mines on the Kola Peninsula ("Severny Gluboky" mine, "Polarnye Zori") and in Yakutia ("Internatsionalny" mine, "Mirny" mine, "Aikhal" mine, etc.) are equipped with this machinery.

 Production of the modernized portable vibration meters "PION-2" began.

The State register has been supplemented with a new invention of RPE "TIK" - the stand for ballistic examination of firearms Ballistika-M. The stand was developed by order of the Perm Region Department of Internal Affairs. Unlike the known analogues, Ballistika-M stand has wider measuring range of the bullet velocity and high accuracy of its measurement; calculates kinetic energy and its average value in the series automatically. The stand is supplied with external software that allows to keep the archive of bullet and shell casing repository and print the reports.

The stand is used not only in the practice of forensic centers, but also for output control of the products manufactured by armories. For example, "Novye oruzheinye tekhnologii" company uses the Ballistika-M stand to control parameters of the manufactured complex of self-defense weapons "OSA".

RPE "TIK" has become the official representative office of the Moscow-based "Resonit" company, the Russia's largest manufacturer of printed circuit boards, in Perm and Perm Krai.


Automatic system modernization works included introduction of pumping unit vibration control systems at oil pumping stations "SZMN", "Sibnefteprovod", "Tsentrsibnefteprovod", "Chernomortransneft", and a number of other facilities.

The approach to creation and implementation of such systems has changed. The scope of work includes design works, manufacture, and supply of systems, commissioning, metrological and technical maintenance of the systems during the warranty and post-warranty period.

The enterprise has changed the form of ownership and became LLC RPE "TIK".


The main technical means of vibration control systems manufactured by the company are included in the Transneft register, which made it possible to start mass introduction of the systems at enterprises of JSC "Transneft".

The company has completed the development and certified its first vibration and motion sensors - DV-1 vibration converter and DS-1 and DS-2 eddy current converters. From that point on all stationary systems manufactured by the company were equipped with the primary converters of own production.

The company registered its trademark.

Established relations with the customers and partners allowed the company to develop actively.

The enterprise structure was divided into 4 major departments - Design Department, Research and Development, Service Center, and Metrology Service.

By the order of Perm ROPD, an alarm device for Argus-SPS oil pipeline cleaning scraper was developed and manufactured. The devices were designed to record the moment of passing the controlled site by the scraper and send a signal to the telemetry system. The alarm device set included electromagnetic signal receiver from the transmitter on the scraper and two remote antenna sensors. The maximum communication length between the receiver and the sensors made 60 meters. The devices were applied at "SZMN" facilities.


At the same time, the development of a stand for vibration control of rolling bearings SVK-A, designed to detect defects in radial and angular-contact rolling bearings, was completed. Compared to its analogues, SVK-A stand has more advanced software that allows not only to find the existing defects, but also to predict the incipient ones, as well as to calculate the remaining service life of the bearing. SVK-A stands are installed at repair sites of regional power plants, RPE, oil refineries, and petrochemical plants. They include - "Dobryanskaya" RPP, "Pechorskaya" RPP, "Urengoyskaya" RPP, Moscow Refinery, Surgut Condensate Stabilization Plant, "Surgutneftegaz", and many other enterprises.

The company started cooperation with the mining machinery enterprises. Together with "Artemovsk machine-building plant "VENTPROM" (Sverdlovsk region), the company tested mining version of Argus-VT - vibration velocity and mine temperature limit switch developed by RPE "TIK". The mines of "Raspadskaya", "Yuzhkuzbassugol", "Kuznetskugol", and many others are equipped with vibration and temperature control systems based on this alarm device.

Similar explosion-proof PIK-VT vibration control systems are applied at gas conditioning plants of JSC "Gazprom", as well as at the subway ventilation fans on Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro.

In addition to stationary control systems, the company begins production of portable vibration meters "PION-1". Unlike similar devices, "PION-1" is manufactured in a solid metal case, in explosion-proof version, which made it possible to use it for mechanics of explosive industries.

The form of ownership of the enterprise was changed. The company exists under the name CJSC RPE "TIK".

Development of Argus-M modular device designed to control the technical condition of the rotor equipment by vibration velocity, vibration displacement, rotor axial shear, and bearing unit temperature has been completed.

The first stationary system built on the basis of Argus-M device was installed on the coke plant "LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez". Argus-M devices have proved to be highly reliable and currently operate in many subdivisions of JSC "Transneft".

The company has also produced a modified version of Argus-M device - crate-multiplexer Argus-K500. One device could collect signals from 500 measuring channels and then transmit them to the upper level system.

Devices for local automation systems BSS-12, BSI-24 and BKP-240 were designed and produced by orders of "LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez". Supplies of the systems to JSC "Transneft" began.

The company has established and strengthened partner relations with a number of related organizations: PIE "Vibrotentr", RPE "ROS" (Perm), Research and engineering center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg), which allowed to supply customers with the complex systems featuring advanced hardware and software.

Development of a desktop electrographic copy machine has been completed. The device has passed acceptance tests and a pilot batch has been manufactured. Development was assigned to "Morion" production association for mastering of serial production.

Development of prototypes of the universal control device "Argus" began.


The company begins cooperation with the petrochemical complex.

"LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez" and JSC "Transneft" became the first major customers of the company. By order of Perm oil industry enterprises, experts of the company have developed and introduced the system of pumping units bearing temperature control.

Such systems have existed in the market, but their introduction and subsequent maintenance were much more expensive for the customers. Later, the temperature control system was improved and allowed to carry out vibration control. These systems were based on the first devices of the company - PKT and PKTV 10-1. In terms of measurement accuracy, the devices are comparable with the best world analogues. Introduction of these systems enabled the customer to significantly save the resources and move from scheduled preventive maintenance to condition-based maintenance.

On December 27, 1991, the institute's employees engaged in development the information system technical mean founded independent research and production enterprise. The enterprise's name "TIK" originates from the chosen field of activity - development of equipment for measurements and control (in Russian - Tekhnika izmereniya i kontrolya).

In the mid-1980s, the works under "Rules of procedure" program were carried out. As a result, an information system with microfilming application for "Salut" orbital station was developed. At that time, it was a big problem to bring the operational documentation to the space as it weighed hundreds of kilograms. The developed system included all operational documentation in microfiche form for the crew, as well as a device for automated search of microfilmed information of PFM series.

Similar systems were developed for the "Vostok" spaceships.


In 1985, the device for storage and search of the information on microfiche with subsequent reception of paper-based copies - PFM2-11 - was transferred to serial production at "Sukhumpribor" factory.


In 1981, the basic model of the apparatus for storage and search of information on microfiche (PM1-20) was created and transferred to Ufa drawing devices plant for serial production. PFM 1-20 device was presented at the Exhibition of Economic Achievments of the USSR (VDNKh) "Automation-83", at the Leipzig International Fair (GDR), at the international exhibition "Repro-85", Brno (Czechoslovakia), where it was awarded with the gold medal.


In 1980, the development of ASIO-TH systems began. The systems were intended for implementation at research and production associations, design organizations, engineering and instrument-making plants, design and engineering offices. Ideology of ASIO-TN provided information support for all design stages; therefore, the information base of the system was made up by documents related to STI, NTD, as well as design and production documentation. The information base of the systems was constructed by two-loop principle which provided storage of descriptions of initial documents in the computer memory (the first loop), while the second loop was formed by the automated archive of microfilms.

"Pentakta" complex served for preparation of microcopies (microfiches) of the source documents. The microfiches were grouped into cassettes. The search for a frame in a cassette was carried out by PFM1-20, PFM1-21, PFM1-30 devices. Reverse recovery of images on zinc oxide paper was carried out by PFM2-11 device. 


In 1976, the company started the development of factual information systems (AFIPS) which, in addition to all functions of documentary IRS, included quite a wide range of tasks on logical and mathematical processing of the system search results. AFIPS was intended for regular collection, storage, and quick search of the actual data on any branch (knowledge base). In other words, it provided a toolkit for preparation, input, storage, search, and processing of factual information (formation of tabular output with preliminary logical and mathematical processing, i.e. summing up by columns and rows, sorting, etc.), and this toolkit could be used in various knowledge areas.


In 1974, the first PFM series machine was created for storing, searching, displaying, and copying the documents on microfilmed sections. About 10 device modifications of this series have been developed over 12 years of work including:

  • device for storage and search of information on microfiche with display on A4, A3, A2 format screen (PFM1-1, PFM1-2, PFM-1-3);
  • device for storage and search of information on microfiche with generation of paper-based copies (PFM2-2);
  • device for storage and search of information on microfiche with the storage volume from 10 to 25 cassettes with generation of paper-based copies (PFA2-1, PFA2-2).


The first instrument-making industry information system - "Referat" - was put into operation. The scientific and technical level of the development was highly appreciated. The system was based on "Minsk-32" computer; automated document storage device AND-I with capacity of 2.106 frames on pieces of 35-mm film served as a repository of abstracts. The required document was chosen from the array of over 1 million documents on the microfilm pieces and its microfilm copy was made. Source documents were stored as microcopies on microfilms.

It is interesting to note that 49% of the systems operating in the USSR were developed by the State Scientific and Research Institute of Control Computers and Systems (SSRICCS) on the basis of technical solutions of "Referat" system. The system was continuously improved and developed. In 1984, a large group of SSRICCS employees was awarded with the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for development and wide implementation of automated systems for collection, processing, storage, and search of various information materials.

In addition to "Referat" AIRS, one of the most significant works in 1966-1970 was AIRS for the All-Union Geological Institute.


"Referat" work project development was finished and a prototype of the second loop of the system of the highest rank in series of scientific and technical information storage and retrieval systems was made.

A number of organizations (the All-Union Airborne Method Laboratory, CPSU Central Committee Political Work Organization Department, Perm KGB Directorate, etc.) have completed and implemented a mechanized factual information IRS on the basis of electromagnetic vibrator with a data carrier on marginal perforation cards.

Different methods of search signs coding have been developed and improved; IRS has been introduced on marginal perforation cards in dozens of enterprises, which provided the accumulation of practical experience in the information search.

 Since 1967, non-standard technical means for storage and retrieval of information have been developed. They were divided into two groups:

  • devices that store information on pieces of 35 mm film, with a storage capacity of up to 106 units, and
  • small-scale mechanization means on punched cards and aperture cards.

At that time, the problem of finding the right information was very acute. It was easier to carry out new research and development than to find the desired results. Therefore, "Referat" topic, aimed at creation of the industry-specific information system, was included to the Institute's plans. This work was the beginning of the Institute's activities on creation of automated information retrieval systems (IRS).

 The history of "TIK" is closely connected with the Perm "Scientific and Research Institute of Control Computers and Systems" (SSRICCS).

The Institute was established by the Council of Ministers in 1962. It became one of the largest centers for development of control and microprocessor technologies, software, and control systems. With the active participation of the Research Institute, CNC machines, robot-technical complexes, smart sensors and devices, information retrieval systems were created.

SSRICCS had departments working on development of the information system technical means. The institute employees called them "iron". These were the "iron" departments where the backbone of the future enterprise "TIK" and its founders have worked for many years.

The basic field of "iron" department activity was the information retrieval devices development. During the development, many inventor's certificates were obtained and regularly exposed at VDNKh. In addition to information retrieval devices, search and copying devices were also developed.
